Payments Regulated by Your Central Bank

Maktabi integrates with payment gateways licensed by the central monetary authority of each GCC country. Your tenants pay through a regulated, government-supervised channel — not an informal transfer.

How Online Rent Payments Work in Maktabi

From agency setup to tenant payment to ZATCA invoice — the complete automated pipeline.

01

Connect Your Licensed Gateway

Create a merchant account with a government-licensed payment gateway for your country. In your Maktabi profile, enter your API keys (secret and publishable) and choose test or live mode. Select which local payment methods to offer tenants.

02

Generate a Payment Link

From your dashboard, create a payment link for a specific tenant, landlord, or any external recipient. Enter the amount, description, and optional due date. The system generates a secure payment URL instantly.

03

Tenant Pays Through Their Preferred Method

The payment link opens a fully hosted checkout page. Tenants choose their preferred method — MADA, card, KNET, Apple Pay, STC Pay — depending on their country. No app installation. No registration required.

04

Payment Confirmed Automatically

When the tenant completes payment, your licensed gateway sends a webhook notification to Maktabi. The system verifies the transaction, marks the rent cycle as paid, and pauses all pending reminders instantly.

05

Invoice Issued and Synced

A ZATCA Phase 2 compliant invoice is generated automatically for the confirmed payment — with VAT breakdown, QR code, and Arabic customer name — and synced to Zoho Books. Zero manual entry.

Online Payments

Your Gateway Account. Your Money. We Just Close the Loop.

Maktabi is not a payment company. We don't hold funds, take a platform cut, or add a layer between your agency and your money.

Your Licensed Account

You register directly with a government-licensed payment gateway in your country. You own the merchant account. Maktabi connects to it using your API keys — we never have access to withdraw or move your funds.

Your Negotiated Fees

Transaction fees are between you and your payment gateway. You negotiate them directly. Maktabi does not add a percentage to your payments or take any cut of your rent collection.

Test Before You Go Live

Set your gateway to test mode while you try the integration. Create payment links, run a test transaction, see the webhook land, watch the rent cycle update — then switch to live mode when you're confident.

Multiple Gateways — Future Ready

The payment layer in Maktabi is designed to support multiple licensed gateways. As we expand to more GCC payment providers, your agency can connect the gateway most suitable for your country and business.

Online Payments

Rent Collected Online. Invoice Issued. No Middleman.

Connect your government-licensed gateway, enable online payments, and let Maktabi handle everything from confirmation to invoice — automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

About online payments in Maktabi.

Does Maktabi charge a percentage of payments collected?
No. Maktabi is a software platform, not a payment processor. Transaction fees are determined entirely by the licensed payment gateway you choose — you negotiate them directly. Maktabi does not take any cut of your rent collection.
Which payment gateways does Maktabi support?
Maktabi currently integrates with leading licensed payment gateways in GCC countries. The platform is designed to support multiple gateways — you connect your own account using your API keys. Contact us to confirm the current list of supported gateways for your country.
Is MADA available for Saudi tenants?
Yes. MADA — the Saudi national debit payment network supervised by SAMA — is fully supported for Saudi Arabia. It is the most widely used payment method in the Kingdom and ensures tenants can pay directly from their Saudi bank accounts.
What happens if a payment fails or is declined?
If a payment is declined by the gateway, the rent cycle remains unpaid and reminder scheduling continues as normal. The payment link remains valid so the tenant can try again. Failed transactions are logged and visible in your dashboard.
Is the payment page in Arabic?
The Maktabi platform and all notifications are fully bilingual. The payment page itself is hosted by your licensed gateway — most GCC-licensed gateways support Arabic as their primary language for the checkout experience.
Does a completed online payment automatically generate a ZATCA invoice?
Yes. When your payment gateway confirms a successful transaction via webhook, Maktabi marks the rent cycle as paid and immediately generates a ZATCA Phase 2 compliant invoice — with 15% VAT breakdown, QR code, and Arabic customer name — and syncs it to Zoho Books.
Can I test the payment integration before going live?
Yes. Every licensed payment gateway offers a sandbox (test) mode with test card numbers. In Maktabi's profile settings, select "Test" mode, enter your test API keys, and run the full payment flow — from link generation to webhook to invoice — before switching to live.
